Men fashion during the 1950s was mainly influenced by americans in flims such as "The Wild One" or "Rebel Without A Cause". This meant that teenagers during the 1950s dressed like famous actors such as Marlon Brando or James Dean who were classic cool, rebel type boys. They wore blue demin jeans with black leather jackets and boots, a white shirt and sunglasses. This became the classical 1950s cool guy look.
Heading towards end of the decade, this look started to fade and a british influenced started to take place in men's fashion. Many teenagers started to adopt the british suit and tie look. Most wore high waisted, narrow "drain pipe" trousers, long jackets, slim ties and large, shiny pointed shoes called "winklepickers".
Another look that was really famous during the 1950s was the Elvis Presley style. Teenagers would start to grow their hair out and style it in a "duck tail" hair style with long side burns (Elvis Presley trademark, famous hair style). Young male teens would wear bright colours and sharp flashy suits. Unbuttoned shirts and up-turned collars were also very fashionable.
Adult male fashion in the 1950s was very board and plain, which happened to malle a heap gap in the fashion of male teenagers who dressed very colour and daringly, compared to adult males who dressed more mature and plain. Adult male fashion mainly consisted of plain fabrics in dark muted shades of blue, brown and grey. They also were very business-like, more adult males had clean cut faces, little fascial hair and nice clean haircuts.
