The role of women during the 1950s was centered around the family and domestic duties. Women who held jobs during the WWII were excepted to quit to provide employment for men returning from war. Women were encouraged to stay at home, raise children, take care of domestic duties and take care fo their husbands.
Some domestic duties were:
- house cleaning
- laundary
- make meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- grocery shopping
Due to an advancement in technology, home appliances made it more conviencing for women to stay home and do chores.
